Rare Materials Cataloguer

The John Carter Brown Library at Brown University is seeking a Rare Materials Cataloguer to join its team. This is a fully on-site position that requires a strong understanding of various DCRM standards and OCLC Connexion. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating MARC records and NACO records, and will work closely with JCB staff across departments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive catalog records for rare and early printed materials
- Utilize various DCRM standards and OCLC Connexion to create MARC records and NACO records
- Collaborate with JCB staff to ensure consistency and accuracy in cataloging and digitization efforts
- Stay up-to-date with developments in cataloging and digitization, and apply this knowledge to improve cataloging practices
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons and colleagues
- MLS degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five years' experience using various DCRM standards and OCLC Connexion
- Fluency or demonstrated proficiency in Spanish and Portuguese languages
- Working knowledge of Latin and other European languages
- Knowledge of European and Latin American history, preferred
- Strong English language communication skills
- Knowledge of enumerative bibliographical sources and research techniques
- NACO independence and experience developing SACO proposals, desirable
