Job Summary

Norfolk Southern is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Signal Trainee to join our team. As an Electrical Signal Trainee, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of railway signal systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain signal systems, including automatic block, traffic control, and positive train control systems.
  • Perform FRA regulatory tests and inspections of signal systems and crossings.
  • Install, repair, and maintain various equipment, such as signals lights, switch machines, and electrical switch locks.
  • Perform cable locates, painting, and housekeeping of signal housings and equipment.
  • Use a wide variety of hand tools, on-track high-rail equipment, and test instruments.
  • Perform construction duties, including digging holes and trenches to lay cables, wiring apparatus, setting foundations, and installing equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • CDL Class A License (must secure license within 111 days of hire date).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Preferred: Technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology or a related field.
