Culinary Associate

Job Summary:

The Culinary Associate is a vital member of our food service team at CHILDRENS HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER OF AKRON. This role involves serving and preparing food for patients, retail, Breastfeeding Mothers (BFM), Guest Trays, and catering. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and experience in institutional or restaurant cooking.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Serve and prepare food for patients, retail, BFM, Guest Trays, and catering.
2. Receive diet orders and assemble special diets, consulting with the Diet Assistant or Registered Dietitian as needed.
3. Receive deliveries, transport food carts/products, and put away stock.
4. Fill orders for nourishment stations.
5. Rotate inventories.
6. Process monies/charges for food items sold in retail.
7. Work as part of a team, helping co-workers during busy times to improve workflow and customer service.
8. Follow Health Department guidelines for safe food handling and sanitation.
9. Prepare baby formulas, tube feedings, and fortify breastmilk as ordered at Beeghly Campus in MV.
10. Organize and process diet orders. Perform clerical functions. Deliver patient trays/carts/catering food/nourishments.
11. Prepare food items using standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
12. Follow standards of sanitation and safety in food handling according to HACCP guidelines.
13. Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
14. Receive and store deliveries.

Requirements:
1. Experience in customer service is preferred.
2. Experience in hazard analysis critical control point is preferred.
3. Experience in institutional or restaurant cooking is preferred.
4. Experience as a cashier is preferred.
5. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
6. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required. Proficiency in POS software is preferred.
7. ServSafe certification is preferred.
8. 0 to 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
9. No experience supervising is required.
