Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Instructor to join our Orthopaedic Surgery of the Spine Fellowship Program. As a Clinical Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing patient care, education, and research opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admit, consult, evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with general orthopedic spine problems.
  • Act as an instructor of clinical orthopedics, providing teaching, supervision, and serving as a role model to residents in the program.
  • Identify patient education needs and provide or order education.
  • Comprehensively document patient charts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to patient and family issues, including age, gender, and cultural diversity.
  • Efficiently perform in emergent situations, adhering to established clinic and hospital-specific protocols.
  • Participate actively in all orthopaedic spine division educational activities and assume responsibility for teaching residents, interns, and medical students.
  • Assist with recruitment activities for the Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship.
  • Participate in clinical and/or basic science research.
Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program.
  • State of Florida Medical Trainee Licensure.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of primary and revision spine surgery.
  • Ability to prepare and present talks for discussion from a list of assigned spine topics.
  • Must work effectively with others as a member or leader of a healthcare team.
  • Expected to treat everyone with respect and dignity.
  • Commitment to ethical principles, particularly those related to provision or withholding of care, confidentiality of patient information, informed consent, and business practices.
