Clinical Laboratory Scientist III

Join Methodist Hospital South as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist III and take your career to the next level in our fast-paced, patient-centered Laboratory Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex medical laboratory tests, analyzing and assuming accountability for accurate test results, and maintaining complicated instruments. You will also be responsible for monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards of regulatory agencies, and managing special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing.
- Analyze test results and assume accountability for accuracy.
- Anticipate and evaluate the need for new methods, instrumentation, and technology in terms of customer need, cost benefit, and revenue generation.
- Inform management about findings and assure compliance with accrediting agencies.
- Act as a resource to customers both within the department and outside the department.
- Manage assigned projects to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources, setting project timelines, keeping Manager informed of progress, and completing project within established time limits.
- Understand, perform, and practice quality control management to include running controls, evaluating data, documentation of data, and taking corrective action as required.
- Communicate any relevant QC information to Supervisor or Manager.
- Understand, perform, and practice preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoot and take corrective action.
- Demonstrate pro-active problem-solving skills to include identifying a problem and taking appropriate action; know when to seek guidance to complete troubleshooting protocol.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree required and Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting required.
- MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), MLT(ASCP), MLT(HEW) certification required.
- Waiver of certification for those with 10+ years of lab experience.
