Job Summary

Unified Business Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Site Safety Health Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of personnel on federal military projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and guidelines.
    • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for site activities and operations to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Training and Education
    • Provide safety training and education to all site personnel, including new employee orientations, toolbox talks, and specific safety training as required to promote a culture of safety awareness.
    • Develop training materials and ensure all personnel are aware of safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Site Inspections and Audits
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Document and report findings, and work with site management to implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Incident Management and Reporting
    • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Prepare and submit incident reports in accordance with federal and company requirements to ensure compliance.
    • Maintain records of all incidents, inspections, training, and other safety-related activities to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
    • Serve as the primary contact for emergency response and coordinate with local emergency services as needed to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communication and Coordination
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety and health-related matters on the site to ensure effective communication.
    • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other personnel to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all project planning and execution to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Communicate safety expectations and requirements to subcontractors and ensure their compliance to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and other safety-related activities to ensure compliance.
    • Prepare and submit required safety reports to federal agencies and company management to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
  • Education and Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or other relevant certification is highly desirable.
    • Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training or equivalent is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction safety, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
    • Experience working on federal military construction projects is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with EM, OSHA regulations, and other relevant safety standards is required.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations is required.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
    • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analyses is required.
    • Proficient in using safety management software and tools is required.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme weather, noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Physical ability to conduct site inspections, including climbing ladders, walking on uneven terrain, and entering confined spaces.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
