Position Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified Histology Technician for a local contract opportunity. This role involves critical responsibilities in the histology department, ensuring high-quality specimen processing and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct histology and cytology tasks, including specimen processing, fixation, and embedding.
  • Prepare slides and perform routine stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and special stains.
  • Maintain accurate identification of samples, blocks, and slides.
  • Ensure the preparation and maintenance of reagents for histological procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment according to established protocols.
  • Document quality control and assurance measures for all procedures performed.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address and resolve technical issues promptly.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A High School Diploma along with a minimum of two years of experience in histology.
  • Completion of an accredited Histo-technology program or an Associate's degree in a relevant field with one year of histology experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry is preferred.
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Histotechnologist (HT) is required.
  • State licensure where applicable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of histological techniques and their application in diagnosing diseases.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to train others effectively.
  • Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
