Rutgers University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Anesthetist to join our team at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. As a key member of our Anesthesiology department, you will be responsible for administering anesthesia-related care to patients undergoing various medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies, and obtaining informed consent for anesthesia.
- Develop and implement anesthetic plans, selecting and initiating the planned anesthetic technique, which may include general, regional, and local anesthesia, and intravenous sedation/monitored anesthesia care (MAC).
- Select and administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic and maintain patient physiologic homeostasis.
- Manage patient airways and pulmonary status using endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, or extubation.
- Manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering, or administering medications, fluids, or ventilator support to maintain homeostasis, provide relief from pain and anesthesia side effects, or prevent or manage complications.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program with a Master's Degree in a related field, or graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs prior to January 1998.
- Successful completion of the National Certification Examination to be a CRNA and maintain current certification.
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the State of New Jersey and current certification as a Nurse Anesthetist.
- Successful completion/certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Candidate must have sufficient sensory capacity to observe the patient and patient monitors.
- Candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both academic and healthcare settings.
- Must show evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in teams and possess demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, and effectively function in the face of uncertainties inherent in clinical practice.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care. The position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
