Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To gain hands-on experience in Mountaire's culture and work environment, and to provide additional exposure to the company's family-oriented work environment.

Fulfilling Designated Duties:

The intern will be responsible for fulfilling all designated duties within each specialized area of operation for the duration of the internship. This program is intended to provide learning opportunities by working hands-on with mentors and completing assigned projects.

Primary Project:

The intern will focus on supporting the validation and management of supplier contracts, improving freight processes, and conducting a comprehensive Supplier Satisfaction Survey. Additional assignments may include analyzing freight costs, monitoring shipment timelines, and creating reports that will be used to refine our supply chain strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with representatives from the Procurement and applicable business units/departments across the organization.
  • Contribute to high-impact meaningful projects that will further advance the company's mission.
  • Provide support in Contract Lifecycle Management solution effort.
  • Participate in the design, distribution, and analysis of the Supplier Satisfaction Survey.
  • Analyze data around contract management, freight costs, and supplier surveys - develop recommendations around all Procurement areas involved.
  • Manage updates and improvements to contract management systems and processes.
  • Spend time learning about supply chain procedures, freight logistics, and supplier relationship management.
  • Present project scope and findings at the end of the internship in a Capstone presentation.

Required Duties and Activities:

  • Complete assigned project identified by department mentor.
  • Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge or working experience in Business and Supply Chain Management - Indirect and direct materials.
  • Completed coursework in business law and procurement practices preferred.
  • Able to identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources and develop and recommend solutions.
  • Able to drive valuable insights from data to make recommendations, data analyzation.
  • Able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment.
