POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer will plan and execute activities related to the quality assurance of manufacturing processes, materials, and products by performing the following responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Quality Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System, including the Quality Manual and Quality System Procedures. Conduct internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001/AS91000 and NADCAP standards.
  • Plan and conduct analyses, inspections, and testing of products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead Supplier Quality initiatives, including audits, performance evaluations, and supplier development.
  • Review design documentation for compliance with requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company records, and recommend improvements to prevent errors.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) methods to analyze data from audits for process evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve testing procedures to ensure adherence to industry and customer specifications.
  • Document data from quality assurance activities in line with company policies and revise operating instructions to achieve the required product quality.
  • Develop innovative solutions to challenges identified during quality assurance processes.
  • Communicate significant findings from quality assurance activities and propose process enhancements to management.
  • Prepare reports detailing involvement and outcomes of quality assurance activities.
  • Present technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Travel to customer locations to support quality procedures and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in metallurgy is highly preferred.
  • Aerospace and nuclear industry experience is also highly preferred.
  • Ability to handle moderately complex issues and challenges.
  • Solid understanding of established quality methodologies such as FMEA, MSA, PPAP, Control Plan, Lean Manufacturing, Internal Auditing, SPC, and CAPA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role may expose the employee to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but can occasionally be high. Most work is performed indoors in a non-climate-controlled setting. Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand, and use hands for various tasks. They may also need to reach with hands and arms, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate effectively. Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds is required, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection is mandatory in designated areas.
