Role Summary:
As a Patient Care Technician, you will support healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient transport, preparing and maintaining patient environments, and performing various clerical and administrative tasks within the patient care unit.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and document vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration every two hours or as instructed.
2. Accurately record patient intake and output as required.
3. Conduct urinary catheterization or in-and-out Foley procedures, ensuring proper documentation.
4. Prepare the area for sterile procedures and maintain accurate records.
5. Assist in minor orthopedic splinting under the supervision of a physician assistant.
6. Identify and document any skin issues, promptly notifying the registered nurse.
7. Safely remove IV catheters and maintain appropriate documentation.
8. Transcribe, document, and relay physician orders and other relevant information.
9. Capable of working in all departmental areas, including triage, minor treatment, and acute care, adhering to departmental policies.
Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
* High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Certification as Nurse Aide II with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Minimum of one (1) year in clerical or customer service roles, along with six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Proficiency in verbal and written English. Ability to develop computer skills if necessary.
