We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst III to join our team at the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and planning support to help drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the management of federal grants, including tracking available funds, monitoring for appropriate expenditures, cash draws, and compliance reporting.
- Monitor cash receipts, assist with deposits, and recording of cash receipts, and online banking activities.
- Help develop and maintain finance-related policy and procedures and internal controls.
- Manage cell phones and incentive awards.
- Assist in the monitoring of budgets and financial transactions.
- Experience using robust computerized accounting systems.
- Understanding of federal and state financial standards.
- Familiarity or ability to learn state's accounting system.
- Good working knowledge of Excel, Access, and Word.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to find and correct errors or to solve issues.
- Ability to analyze large sets of financial information and design reports to assist management and division personnel.
- Familiarity with good accounting practices and procedures.
- Understanding of federal grants and reporting.
- Experience preparing financial reports and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Skills to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work as a team to accomplish all department financial needs.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
- Ability to work with others and maintain a friendly and professional work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, including advanced degrees.
- OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and paid professional employment directly related to the above tasks.
