Overview:

The Novant Health Medical Group Float Pool Clinical Assistants play a vital role in ensuring safe, quality, and cost-effective service and care for patients within the practice population. Qualifications:

  • Education: High School or GED, required. A graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program that includes an externship in a clinical setting is essential. The program must include pharmacology and medication administration. A fully online medical assistant program is not approved. Certification/registry must be obtained within six months of hire, and an education agreement signed. Accepted certifications/registry include CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), and RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Alternative work experience for eligibility to take NHA, ARMA, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP, or AMT exams includes one year of supervised medical assistant experience within the last three years, two years of experience for NCCT and NAHP, three years for ARMA, and five years for AMT, with no more than two years as an instructor in a post-secondary medical assistant program. Graduation from an Accredited School of Professional Nursing is also acceptable. Experience must include both clinical and administrative duties.
  • Experience: Previous work in a medical setting is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification as CMA, RMA, or CCMA is required.
  • Additional Skills: Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and computer literacy are essential. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing is also required.
