Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Springfield Missouri Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the instructional program, identifying and serving students with disabilities in the area of communication, and developing treatment plans to minimize adverse educational impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess students' communication skills, identifying communication disorders and developing recommendations for treatment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, tiered interventions, and provide skilled therapy to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders.
  • Provide training and guidance to support staff on communicative disorders, use of assistive devices, and feeding techniques.
  • Interpret medical reports and provide information to ensure that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and files, ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and compliance.
  • Participate in professional learning activities to acquire research-based knowledge of current practices, compliance standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Participate in required meetings, such as evaluation meetings, IEPs, and therapy department meetings.
  • Prepare a wide variety of materials, documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
  • Research resources and methods to determine the appropriate approach for addressing students' needs.
  • Respond to inquiries, providing information and/or referral as appropriate.
  • Transport supplies and equipment to various sites, ensuring the availability of items as needed.
  • Report health and safety issues to instructional personnel, administrative personnel, and/or appropriate agencies.
  • Supervise SLP Clinical Fellow, practicum students, and provide guidance and training for other staff using speech and/or language strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology from an accredited program, required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience preferred.
  • Missouri Board of Healing Arts licensure in Speech Language Pathology, required.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology, preferred.
  • Criminal Background Clearance, with satisfactory results.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License, with evidence of insurability.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work environment is primarily inside, with moderate noise and temperature levels.
  • The work is light work, requiring exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
