Position Summary:
As a General Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency by assisting with various tasks related to janitorial services and facilities management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the installation and removal of mattresses.
  • Assist in the movement of janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • Transport and assemble bed frames as needed.
  • Execute daily responsibilities with a focus on efficiency and thoroughness.
  • Occasionally handle the transportation and processing of linens.
  • Support special projects, including furniture relocation, carpet cleaning, floor maintenance, and seasonal facility preparations.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Complete assignments in an organized and timely manner, ensuring follow-through from start to finish.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and responsibilities related to janitorial and general assistance tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation in a physically demanding and unique work setting.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and flexibility in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure a safe workplace by prioritizing safety protocols.
  • Assist in the janitorial department as time permits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50 lbs consistently.
  • Composite toe shoes are mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role require the employee to be mobile throughout the facility for a significant portion of the workday. Regular lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds is expected, with occasional requirements to lift heavier items. Candidates should be prepared for long hours and extended periods away from home.

Experience:
  • A minimum of one year of experience in custodial or manual labor roles is required.
  • Experience with Station Services in Antarctica may be considered in lieu of the minimum experience requirement.
Additional Information:
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
  • Successful completion of a Tier 1 - Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) is a prerequisite for employment.
