Rex Microbiology is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist I to join their team. As a Medical Technologist I, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical activities in the UNC Healthcare System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Participate in teams or perform special projects/assignments to drive laboratory efficiency and quality.
  • Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
  • Perform quality control and equipment maintenance to ensure laboratory equipment is functioning optimally.
  • Conduct routine and less standardized test procedures, including special chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests.
  • Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required to support laboratory testing.
  • Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
  • Review test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Eligibility to sit for the Medical Technologist (MT) exam within 12 months of hire.
  • Obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
  • No prior experience required.
