Job Title: Materials Lab TechnicianAbout the Role:
HEICO, a leading aerospace company, seeks an experienced Materials Lab Technician to join their team in Hollywood, FL. This is a full-time direct hire role with a competitive salary of $65,000 - $85,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical materials preparation and evaluation to support engineering and quality activities.
- Work with various materials including metallic, composite, graphite, metal alloys, ceramics, glass, plastics, and polymers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform research and other tasks in a lab environment.
- Record observations and measurements, and report results.
- Familiarize yourself with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
- Use instrumental techniques to perform various tests.
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Perform tasks such as sectioning, mounting, polishing, and etching samples.
- Evaluate samples according to work instructions, including grain size and microstructure features, macro and micro-hardness testing, spectroscopy, filler content determination, surface treatment characterization, and more.
- Operate lab equipment like Optical Microscopes, Spectrometer, and Scanning Electron Microscope for materials characterization.
- Inspect welds and brazes to ensure product requirements are met.
- Assist materials engineers in reverse engineering aircraft parts when needed.
- Support inventory, receipt, inspection, and stocking of materials and equipment.
- Maintain clean rooms and equipment.
- Work under general supervision.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Required; Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of lab experience in a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Photoshop.
- Mathematical skills: probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions.
- Reasoning abilities: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions.
- Interpersonal skills: work independently and within a team.
- Organizational skills: prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, strong sense of urgency, handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical skills: analyze situations to gain thorough insight and make decisions.
