Acupuncturist - Advanced

Job Summary

The Acupuncturist - Advanced will provide advanced acupuncture services to patients, utilizing standard medical evaluation procedures and East Asian Medicine evaluation to formulate a differential diagnosis and develop an acupuncture treatment plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acupuncture and be able to apply safe and effective advanced acupuncture techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize standard medical evaluation procedures and East Asian Medicine evaluation to formulate a differential diagnosis and develop an acupuncture treatment plan.
• Apply safe and effective advanced acupuncture techniques.
• Educate patients on health lifestyle changes, including nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, mind-body techniques, and other matters related to acupuncture care.
• Provide group acupuncture as determined.
• Document and code information related to patient care in the VA's electronic health care record on a timely basis, following VHA policies.
• Communicate with other healthcare providers as appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date VHA and professional trainings and attend required meetings.
• Review referrals, screen for appropriateness of care, and direct Veterans to other services when necessary.
• Participate in teaching principles of acupuncture to staff, students, and residents, including journal clubs, grand rounds, and in-service trainings.
• Provide assistance as needed for issues or problems that arise in relation to the acupuncture practice and serve as a preceptor to new staff or less experienced staff and students.

Requirements

• Master's degree in acupuncture or oriental medicine from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
• Board certification through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice acupuncture in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States or District of Columbia.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in acupuncture and related fields.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
