Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in Conway, Arkansas. The EHS Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain organized hazardous and non-hazardous storage areas, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive safety observation database to track incidents and near misses.
  • Conduct thorough safety training programs for employees on various topics, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency procedures.
  • Create and implement an effective Energy Control Plan to ensure safe work practices during lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison for EHS and emergency visitors, providing guidance and support.
  • Inspect and maintain all eyewash stations throughout the facility, ensuring their functionality and accessibility.
  • Administer first aid to employees as needed, responding promptly to emergencies.
  • Develop a comprehensive PPE Matrix by task, outlining the appropriate personal protective equipment required for each job function.
  • Conduct regular regulatory compliance checks throughout the facility, identifying and addressing any potential violations.
  • Evaluate and address EHS-related responsibilities, ensuring continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Monitor and update SDS books through a new chemical acceptance program, maintaining accurate records of hazardous materials.
  • Perform stormwater sampling and inspections on a quarterly and monthly basis to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct weekly inspections and inventory management of the storage building, ensuring proper organization and labeling of materials.
  • Verify and label drums containing hazardous waste on a weekly basis, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Transport hazardous waste and empty drums to the designated storage building on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare and submit manifests for hazardous waste shipments on a monthly basis.
  • Manage the recycling of steel aerosol cans, promoting responsible waste disposal practices.
  • Monitor air emissions through EPA Method 9 inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an EHS work environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, email, and internet-based applications.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
