Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of Ceramics to join our faculty team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Ceramics classes, integrating history and contemporary ceramics into coursework, and maintaining a safe and efficient studio environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Ceramics classes covering wheel throwing, hand construction, glazing, and firing for high and low temperature clay implementation at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Integrate history of ceramics, contemporary ceramics, and craft into coursework and project development.
  • Teach clay processes for utilitarian and sculptural expression.
  • Remain current in the field through personal practice, technological advances, and professional development opportunities.
  • Work alongside the Studio Technician in maintaining the facility, assessing the equipment, glazes, and safety compliance.
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with assigned course outline of record.
  • Participate in learning outcome development and assessments.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities and college, division, and department policies.
Requirements
  • A Master's in Fine Arts, Art, or Art History, or a Bachelor's in any of the above and a Master's in Humanities, or the equivalent.
  • Commitment to the community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests.
  • Personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.
  • Awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students.
