Habilitation Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Habilitation Counselor to join our team at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. As a Habilitation Counselor, you will provide clinical assessments for the children's mobile response and stabilization program in Essex County, ensuring quality and quantity standards are met.

• Conduct crisis/strength-based assessments of service needs for clients or customers
• Respond to telephone requests for service, undertaking outreach to families and assessing youth and family strengths and current crisis situations
• Make appropriate referrals for time-limited stabilization services and monitor effectiveness of services
• Link clients with aftercare services and demonstrate competency in recognizing unique needs and applying relevant crisis stabilization approaches

• Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health discipline or related human services field
• Minimum one year experience in the mental health field
• Valid driver's license and ability to work on-call
• Maintain DCSOC Crisis Assessment Tool (CAT) and Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) certifications
