Job Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Alzheimer's disease research. We are seeking a highly motivated research scholar to study the role of cellular senescence in brain aging and Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to advance independent research projects, including planning, developing new assays and experimental models, troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation, and incorporating results into manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Conduct standard animal experiments, including handling transgenic mice, mouse intraperitoneal and tail vein injections, rodent general surgeries, collecting tissues, IHC, and data analysis.
  • Perform specific assays, including histological procedures, quantitative RT-PCR, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, and flow cytometry assays.
  • Assist the PI in training and supervising graduate students, technicians, research assistants, and junior lab members.
  • Attend seminars, career development activities, submit abstracts, and present data at local, national, and international meetings, and write postdoctoral fellowship applications and grant proposals.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, molecular cell biology, cellular neurobiology, or a related field.
  • Expert-level intellectual input to research objectives and data interpretation.
  • Ability to work independently in experimental design and project execution.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and supervise technicians and graduate students.
