Job Title: Battleship Electrician

Join the City of Norfolk, VA team as a skilled Battleship Electrician We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced electrician to install and maintain electrical systems aboard the Battleship Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and maintain lighting and electrical systems, including circuits, conduits, and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing circuits, changing ballasts, and replacing switches and receptacles.
  • Pull data and communication cable, and follow strict tool and inventory control procedures.
  • Relamp with new lamps, clean lens, and replace and repair lighting internal components.
  • Assist with special project requirements and new construction, including running new circuits for receptacles, wiring and splicing in strings of lighting, and testing and retesting lighting for on/off of all facilities at the same time.
  • Maintain and replace electrical components of the ventilation systems.
  • Assist with the management of projects, including planning installation, gathering information and estimates from contractors, procuring materials, and supervising Maintenance Volunteers.
  • Perform other duties, including hanging banners and flags, testing and repairing ship systems, locksets and control panels, testing and installing cameras, monitors and data equipment, and performing administrative tasks related to systems operation and maintenance.
Requirements:
  • Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature, which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency.
  • Minimum journeyman electrician/NAVY Ship EM required, with two years of experience as a Ship Electrician.
  • Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s): Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment, and State Journeyman Electrician's License required within one (1) year of employment.

Work Location and Schedule:

One Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510. Tuesday-Saturday, 40 hours per week. Occasional evenings and Sundays are required.

Signing Bonus:

This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments: $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period.
