Position Overview:

In alignment with our mission to enhance the quality of life for the Residents we serve, the Nutritional Services Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to both Residents and staff. This position is essential in ensuring that the dietary department operates in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by supporting various dietary tasks as directed and in accordance with established dietary protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in meal and beverage preparation.
  • Engage in the food tray assembly line, preparing trays according to dietary specifications efficiently to meet scheduled meal and snack times.
  • Support the loading of food carts and serve meals to Residents and staff.
  • Bag and store food items as instructed.
  • Clean and wrap silverware, ensuring each piece is inspected for cleanliness before wrapping.
  • Clear and sanitize tables post-mealtime throughout the facility.
  • Scrape, wash, and rack dirty dishes and utensils.
  • Assist in operating the dishwashing machine.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, inspecting them for cleanliness.
  • Store clean dishes, utensils, and cutlery in their designated locations.
  • Participate in table setup, which includes arranging tablecloths, silverware, dishware, and filling cups with water.
  • Dispose of waste in appropriate containers, adhering to established sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean work area, free from hazards such as spills and excess carts.
  • Ensure that equipment, tools, and supplies are stored properly at all times.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions and supply needs to the supervisor.
  • Notify the Dietary Supervisor of any hazardous conditions or incidents.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with Residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • Understand and implement Infection Control protocols, including hand hygiene, recognizing signs of infection, and maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Support and protect Resident Rights by assisting Residents in making informed choices, treating them with dignity, and safeguarding their personal belongings.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ServSafe Certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Dietary Aide is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write, and follow both written and verbal instructions, including basic calculations.
  • Fundamental knowledge of food service, sanitation, and safety practices.
