POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of the Software Development team, individuals collaborate closely with clients, business analysts, and fellow team members to grasp the business needs that inform the analysis, design, and development of high-quality technical solutions. These solutions must align with the standards set by the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) and adhere to the architectural guidelines of the organization. Software Developers engage in the complete systems life cycle, taking responsibility for the design, coding, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of applications, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.

In addition to application development, responsibilities may extend to participation in component and data architecture design, technology planning, product evaluation, troubleshooting, advanced testing processes, and recommendations regarding build versus buy decisions. Software Developers may also utilize various middleware to create solutions. Team members contribute to project plans associated with Software Development initiatives, developing integrated solutions that unify existing applications, legacy systems, databases, web interfaces, and hardware logic to meet evolving enterprise requirements. Professionals in Software Development possess a strong understanding of the programming languages utilized by the organization and may be familiar with object-oriented design, coding, and debugging methodologies.

They bring experience in systems design and a solid grasp of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies. Knowledge of current and emerging IT products, services, and processes is essential. Software Developers may operate as individual contributors, team members, or technical team leaders, providing client support, consultation, and subject matter expertise for software development, maintenance, and support. This role operates in a hybrid environment, with potential requirements to report to the office periodically or as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide technical leadership in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and enhancement of software, applications, or middleware.

- Engage in research, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex support issues.

- Collaborate in project planning with clients, business analysts, architects, and team members.

- Monitor project milestones and critical deadlines to identify potential schedule risks and propose solutions.

- Lead the technical evaluation and selection process for software or middleware packages, facilitating necessary communication and training for successful adoption.

- Contribute to buy versus build recommendations, researching the feasibility of custom, open-source, and commercial solutions.

- Analyze existing applications to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement, initiating process enhancements to benefit the team.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- Experience in programming and systems analysis.

- Proven project experience with Angular (9+).

- Demonstrated project experience with Java.

- Proven project experience using Spring Boot.

- Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.

- Familiarity with responsive and adaptive UI/UX design or development and supporting technologies (HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, etc.).

- Experience with RDBMS such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.

- Knowledge of RESTful Web Services or APIs and related tools (Postman, Swagger, JMeter, etc.).

- Experience with data exchange/serialization languages, formats, or technologies (JSON, YAML, XML, etc.).
