Key Responsibilities
  • Explaining Procedures to Patients

Clearly explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide appropriate educational material.

  • Preparing Patients for Radiology Exams

Prepare patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure and verifying patient identity according to policies and procedures.

  • Following Radiation Safety Procedures

Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.

  • Preparing and Administering Contrast Media

Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Observing Patients During Procedures

Observe patients during procedures and report any abnormal activity.

  • Ensuring High-Quality Images

Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, and patient data/history).

  • Maintaining Department Cleanliness

Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas.

  • Performing Limited CT Procedures

May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.

Requirements
  • Education

Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.

  • Experience

No experience required.

  • Physical Requirements

Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.

  • Required Professional Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA). ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). ARRT-BD Bone Density - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
