Purpose of this Position

This role is responsible for performing phlebotomy duties in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with the laboratory team to ensure the collection and processing of blood samples are done efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Obtain blood samples from patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  2. Verify patient identification and ensure accurate labeling of samples.
  3. Process blood samples in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  6. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
  7. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date with laboratory procedures and best practices.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Ability to provide own transportation while on duty.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organized, able to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused, service-oriented, and able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of clinical or anatomical laboratory functions.
  • Medical terminology or science background.
  • Associates degree in an Allied Health field.
  • Experience in phlebotomy or a related field.
  • PBT (ASCP) registration.
  • Completion of a regionally accredited phlebotomy certificate program.
Physical Demands

This role requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting, and standing. The associate will be required to walk, bend, and stand up to seven hours a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. This associate must have excellent eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, and the ability to grasp different items. The associate must be able to visualize patient veins and hear audible alarms. This position requires the associate to work at a high rate of speed. Must be able to drive from various locations.
