Position Overview

The Speech Therapist will assess, diagnose, and provide treatment for individuals experiencing challenges with speech, language, cognitive functions, and swallowing. The role involves creating tailored treatment plans, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with healthcare professionals and families regarding patient progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Evaluate patients' speech and language capabilities, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and collaborate with other specialists to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Individualized Treatment Plans: Develop and implement care strategies based on thorough assessments, involving family members when appropriate.
  • Therapeutic Techniques: Teach patients sound production, voice modulation, and fluency enhancement, while also improving their vocabulary and sentence structure.
  • Swallowing Rehabilitation: Assist patients in strengthening swallowing muscles and determining suitable dietary options.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with support staff to achieve patient goals and ensure compliance with state regulations and payer requirements.
  • Patient Education: Inform patients and their families about coping strategies for communication and swallowing difficulties.
  • Documentation: Maintain timely and accurate records of evaluations, treatment objectives, and daily plans, ensuring adherence to physician orders.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to enhance personal and team skills, staying current with industry literature.
  • Community Outreach: Provide leadership and resources to promote speech therapy services within the community.
  • Travel Requirements: May involve travel between facilities to deliver care.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence is mandatory.
  • Current state licensure in good standing is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience is advantageous.
