Chemical Compliance Specialist

Duration: 0-4 months with potential for extension

Work hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, M-F

GENERAL FUNCTION:

This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to chemical regulations and maintaining internal documentation processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all chemical operations
  • Assist both Research & Development and Manufacturing departments in maintaining safety and environmental standards
  • Provide support to internal and external stakeholders regarding safety and environmental compliance
  • Oversee the maintenance of chemical documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Facilitate internal processes related to chemical documentation
  • Support corporate Environmental, Safety, and Health initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline is required.

  • No specific certifications are required
  • Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Chemical Abstracts / SciFinder, Registry Numbers, and Chemical Nomenclature
  • Understanding of organic chemical structures and their nomenclature
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical abilities in interpreting regulations and processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Organic Chemistry or a Bachelor's degree with four years of relevant industrial experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Chemical Abstracts / SciFinder
  • Expertise in OSHA regulations related to chemicals
  • Familiarity with Access, SAP, and SharePoint
