Medical Physicist

The Medical Physicist plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of radiation dose to cancer patients. This position requires a high level of expertise in radiation oncology and medical physics, with a focus on designing and implementing quality management programs for radiotherapy equipment and therapeutic radioisotopes.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement quality management programs for radiotherapy equipment and therapeutic radioisotopes
- Ensure the safe and accurate delivery of radiation dose to cancer patients
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, high dose rate brachytherapy, and low dose rate brachytherapy
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists to develop special physics consults for treatment strategies
- Participate in the treatment planning and verification of special treatment procedures
- Develop purchasing and acceptance specifications for imaging and radiation therapy equipment
- Consult with radiation oncologists on patient doses and optimization of patient treatment plans and delivery
- Develop, implement, and supervise quality control programs in the radiology or radiation oncology department
- Supervise the design and construction of patient treatment aids or special devices
- Supervise brachytherapy procedures and abide by NRC/State regulations
- Research and develop new devices and modalities for improved therapeutic uses of radiation
- Provide technical direction of radiation oncology staff
- Develop policy and procedures related to radiation safety and radiation oncology physics
- Masters Degree required
- ABR Board Certification eligible
- ABR Board Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics preferred
- Knowledgeable in areas of anatomy, physiology, clinical oncology, radiobiology, radiation physics, and radiation safety
- Expertise in the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics
- Knowledgeable in health care informatics
- Working knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices
