Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Assistant to join our team at Person Memorial Hospital. As a Radiology Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the imaging department by performing routine clinical and administrative duties.

Responsibilities
  • Triage incoming patients and perform CPR and other emergency measures as necessary.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, take histories and vital signs, and prepare patients for examination.
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition and document patient care given.
  • Assist providers in examination and treatment of patients, minor surgeries, and physicals.
  • Stock and set-up exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments.
  • Process referral and prior authorization requests in accordance with company protocol.
  • Utilize electronic medical software to record patient information in compliance with HIPAA / confidentiality guidelines.
  • Dispense medication as directed by providers.
  • Collect and process lab specimens.
  • Perform glucose monitoring.
  • Provide wound care and perform suture removal as directed by providers.
  • Communicate with the patient, pharmacy, and physician inquiries within the scope of the practice; involve provider as needed.
  • Perform accurate and timely input of data into EMR and Clockwise.
  • Administer IM, SQ, and oral medications as trained under the direction of the provider.
  • Administer aerosol treatments.
  • Apply splints and dressings.
  • Administer oxygen therapy.
  • Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Protect patients, staff, and self from radiation exposure by practicing sound procedures which meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by providers and maintain a repeat rate of 2% of less.
  • Develop and process radiological film.
  • Log completed radiological procedures, completing paperwork accurately and on time and identifying all filling reports as required.
  • Ensure that all radiological equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, immediately reporting any equipment malfunction to the Practice Manager.
  • Perform urine, saliva, hair, and breath alcohol drug screens after successful completion of drug screen training provided by a certified instructor chosen by MedAccess.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of college is preferred.
  • Successful completion of training as a medical assistant is preferred.
  • A current AART x-ray certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
