Responsibilities
The Obstetric Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
In this role, you will provide direct patient care within your scope of practice, while also guiding and educating patients and their families, as well as overseeing the activities of other nursing staff to maintain high standards of care in the maternity unit.
You will be expected to respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses, ensuring a safe environment for both patients and visitors.
Utilizing the chain of command when necessary, you will advocate for the well-being of mothers and newborns during the antepartum and postpartum periods.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- Current and valid state RN license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current
- ACLS certification within 90 days of hire and maintain current
- PALS certification within 90 days of hire and maintain current
- NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current
- Basic Fetal Monitoring certification within 60 days of hire
