Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and families in your community? We are seeking a Part-Time Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional to join our team at the Iron County School District in Cedar City, UT.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the school principal, collaborating with the Special Education Educator, School Counselor, and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to support students with moderate to intensive behavior and/or mental health needs. This role may also involve implementing behavioral programs and intensive behavior intervention services for students with disabilities.
The ideal candidate will establish effective rapport with students, motivate them to develop appropriate social skills and attitudes, and foster greater independence. They will also develop and maintain professional relationships with other staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, document, and manage data to inform functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, emergency safety interventions, referrals for additional supports, problem solving, schedules, and services.
- Utilize Google Suite effectively, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.
- Implement data-driven changes to student programming and document them effectively.
- Collaborate with school professionals and other paraprofessionals to build the school's capacity to address student behavior and/or mental health needs.
- Participate in regular ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge and improve skill application.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal policies and procedures for special education and behavior compliance.
- Provide instructional support assistance to students and student groups.
- Participate in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
- Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
- Operate various types of office equipment, such as computers, copy machines, etc.
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance are required.
- Comply with established district policies and procedures.
- Have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs, and check email frequently. Be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
