Coatings Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coatings Inspector to join our team at Atlas in Portland, OR.
Job Summary:The Coatings Inspector will be responsible for inspecting and evaluating the quality and durability of coatings on various surfaces, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive inspections of surface preparation and coating applications on structures, equipment, and components using visual observation and testing equipment.
- Verify that coatings are compliant with specified requirements, including thickness, adhesion, hardness, appearance, porosity, and coverage, as per industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC), project specifications, established codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and any non-conformance issues.
- Prepare and submit thorough reports outlining inspection findings, quality control metrics, and corrective actions taken.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to address and resolve any issues related to coating quality and safety.
- Must possess a valid AMPP Certified Coating Inspectors (NACE Level 2) or equivalent certification (e.g., SSPC).
- Minimum of 5 years of field coating quality control (QC) experience.
- Close, color, distance, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Strong knowledge of coating materials, application methods, inspection techniques, industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, such as dry film thickness gauges, adhesion testers, and environmental monitoring devices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings to various stakeholders.
