Position Overview:

As a line technician within the Kinetic construction and engineering division, your responsibilities will include the installation, repair, and maintenance of poles, cables, and conduits. You will be tasked with installing both aerial and buried cables, utilizing necessary hardware to complete projects, and managing fiber optic and copper cable installations in various infrastructures, including manholes.

This role emphasizes the importance of crew safety, requiring you to provide guidance on procedures, road safety, and manhole safety protocols. Responsibilities also include attending safety meetings, managing inventory, ensuring DOT vehicle inspections, operating heavy machinery, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

This position may require working on weekends, holidays, standby hours, and overtime, with travel exceeding 50% as a potential necessity. This is a safety-sensitive role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain poles and associated infrastructure.
  • Utilize electronic testing equipment to assess signal strength.
  • Interpret staking sheets and blueprints for project execution.
  • Install and inspect aerial cables (fiber and copper), analyze test results, and identify faults.
  • Set up customer services by installing, connecting, testing, or adjusting equipment.
  • Access specific locations to string lines or install terminal boxes using bucket trucks or climbing techniques.
  • String cables between structures and maintain proper tension using various tools.
  • Excavate trenches for underground installations and adhere to industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Document engineering field notes and provide recommendations for construction methodologies.
  • Participate in engineering, permitting, and construction processes as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in operating a variety of construction equipment.
  • Possess pole climbing certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions year-round.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a CDL post-hire.
  • Exceptional time management and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course and pole climbing certifications.
  • Experience operating various construction equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Continuous standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting.
  • Frequent exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
