Job Title: Veterinarian Senior

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinarian Senior to join our team at the University of Washington's Washington National Primate Research Center. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will be responsible for providing critical veterinary care to nonhuman primates used for breeding and research support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical and surgical veterinary care to nonhuman primates, including preventative medicine, dental procedures, and infectious disease testing.
  • Develop and implement plans for preventative medicine, including review of present preventative plans and modification of preventative plans or protocols based on clinical outcomes.
  • Participate in animal health maintenance, including surveillance of colony animal health, infectious disease testing, and routine physical exams.
  • Provide care to sick or injured animals, including provision of follow-up care and release from clinical treatment.
  • Maintain clinical records in a custom electronic database, the Animal Research Management System (ARMS).
Requirements:
  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from a College of Veterinary Medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Association.
  • License to practice veterinary medicine in Arizona.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical and surgical experience with laboratory animals, including nonhuman primates.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in use of computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and internet usage.
Working Conditions:

This position involves handling non-human primates and human pathogenic organisms. The ability to work in an ABSL 2 containment facility is required.

Employee is personally responsible for following health & safety and security policies/procedures and staying current on all required training. Bloodborne pathogen training and compliance with all WaNPRC and UW security policies is also mandatory.

This position requires the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a diverse staff.
