Benihana Sushi Chef Role

At Benihana National Corp, we are seeking a skilled Sushi Chef to join our team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing side and sushi items for our guests in accordance with our portioning, recipe, and service guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking using a variety of kitchen equipment.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests and provide guests with information about Benihana foods.
• Perform shift opening and closing duties as assigned by the manager on duty, such as cleaning the neta cases, cutting boards, fryers, grills, and floors.
• Maintain kitchen, cooking areas, sushi counters, neta cases, kitchen equipment, knives, and food storage areas clean, sanitary, and organized.
• Prepare foods in accordance with the Company's portions standards and recipe specifications prior to cooking.

Requirements:

• Must successfully pass Benihana's sushi chef training program.
• Previous experience as a sushi chef is highly desirable.

Competencies:

• Customer Service: Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism when interacting with guests.
• Communication: Must possess excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills and be able to clearly communicate with guests and colleagues.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to perform a variety of physical activities, including standing for long periods of time, climbing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 55 lbs.

Working at Benihana:

• Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.
