Job Summary

Austin Telco Federal Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Collector to join our team. As a key member of our collections department, you will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day collections procedures, collecting and controlling loan accounts in all phases of delinquency, and adhering to procedures established by our credit union.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain consistent daily follow-up of all past due and delinquent accounts.
  • Utilize telephone and email contact with members as pertains to their delinquent accounts.
  • Counsel members on the importance of maintaining a good credit rating.
  • Research delinquent accounts for posting errors and correct errors.
  • Refer and/or confer with Director of Collections/Senior Collector (daily) on any problem accounts.
  • Maintain files, prepares collections and/or mails letters of late payments on accounts.
  • Obtain credit reports as required.
  • Maintain liaison with loan officers to apprise them of pertinent information.
  • Submit updated/corrected credit information to credit bureau.
  • Process repossessions, bankruptcies, charge-offs, and Collateral Protection Insurance as assigned/needed.
  • Perform clerical duties and daily mail.
  • Use cross-selling to inform all members of all credit union services available to them at every possible opportunity.
  • Attend all training sessions as assigned.
  • Complete documentation for loan extension and collection refinances.
  • Process loans as assigned or needed.
  • Process towing notifications and act accordingly.
  • Process Comptroller freezes, Attorney General freezes, garnishments, tax liens, IRS levies, HOA past due assessments, receiver's orders, and temporary injunctions.
  • Prepare charge-off and trustee check payments for posting.
  • Prepare loan documents for scanning.
Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of collections experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of laws regarding repossessions, collections, and bankruptcy is required.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
