  • Gather evidence by interviewing witnesses and victims; mediate conflicts and secure crime scenes for further investigation.
  • Oversee campus traffic and safety regulations, including directing traffic and assisting in emergency situations.
  • Operate essential equipment, including radios, public address systems, and emergency medical tools.
  • Perform additional duties such as collaborating with other agencies, documenting activities, and maintaining records of incidents.
  • Provide emergency medical assistance as required.
  • Engage in community policing initiatives and foster positive relationships within the college community.
  • Participate in ongoing community engagement efforts and deliver exceptional service to all stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying best practices in all responsibilities.
  • Fulfill other assigned duties in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator's license or equivalent.
  • Possession of a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a firearm.
  • Eligibility for certification by the Massachusetts POST commission.
  • Completion or ability to complete an MPTC approved Full-Time Academy.
  • High School Diploma is mandatory.
  • Proficient in preparing written reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.
  • Physical capability to walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of English language principles, including grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to apprehend offenders in compliance with the law.
  • Commitment to teamwork within the department.
  • First Aid/CPR AED Certification or willingness to obtain upon employment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to pass thorough background checks and assessments.
  • Willingness to work with a diverse faculty, student, and staff community.
