Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, which encompasses a historic house museum and extensive grounds.
  • Manage entry points to the museum, ensuring only authorized individuals gain access.
  • Welcome visitors and provide guidance to the initial area of the tour.
  • Monitor visitor counts and collaborate with fellow security personnel and museum staff to maintain accurate guest totals.
  • Complete daily visitor logs, secure access points, execute closing protocols, and fill in for other security roles as required.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to stand, walk, ascend stairs, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with visitors.
  • Exhibit tact and politeness in public interactions while being assertive when necessary.
  • Vigilant observation skills to identify and report any unusual activities or situations.
  • Quick response capability in emergency scenarios.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in security is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided.
  • Compliance with non-commission status as mandated by the Texas Commission on Private Security.
  • Possession of a valid state-issued identification or driver's license is required for the application process.
  • Successful candidates must pass pre-employment background checks.
