Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Hazel Crest, IL. As a Med Surg nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Responsibilities:
  • Use the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Anticipate and recognize significant changes in patient condition, status, and need for care, and take appropriate actions to ensure patient safety.
  • Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety, and assess patient and family readiness to learn and individualize the approach as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively to develop strategies to meet the learning needs of patients and families, and actively coordinate the discharge plan utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Apply evidence-based practice to deliver patient care, and consistently incorporate nursing and regulatory standards of care into practice.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, and take appropriate action when changes are needed.
  • Support shared governance activities and initiatives to improve processes and patient outcomes, and demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Promote a culture of safety through identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent patient harm, and report patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.
  • Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates time management skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrates coordination, collaboration, delegation and team building skills.
