We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on university-owned vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
- Diagnose and repair complex problems with vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with minor tune-ups and engine repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on University vehicles and maintenance equipment.
- Diagnose and service A.B.S. electrical systems using special tools and scan tools.
- General education or vocational training in automotive repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to work safely and be protected in areas with fumes or airborne particles and toxic and/or caustic chemicals.
- Knowledge of the use of various hand and power tools of the Automotive Mechanic trade.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Some knowledge in the use of test lights, volt/ohm meter, and various vehicle diagnostic tools.
This position requires a physical. The physical requirements are:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry 200 feet.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up/down 30 stairs.
- Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly.
- Ability to climb in high places using a ladder or balance frequently.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl occasionally.
- Ability to push or pull dolly loaded with up to 120 pounds for 300 feet occasionally.
This position requires a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. The ability to work safely and be protected in areas with fumes or airborne particles and toxic and/or caustic chemicals is also required.
