Your Role
We are seeking a seasoned engineer with over 15 years of experience in the planning and design of river, stream, and floodplain projects. You will collaborate with a diverse team of ecologists, landscape architects, engineers, and scientists to deliver multidisciplinary projects in intricate ecological environments. The successful candidate will engage in various mitigation, restoration, flood risk management, and infrastructure protection initiatives for both public and private sector clients across the Western United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enhance river and stream habitats.
- Implement fish passage solutions.
- Conduct watershed and floodplain assessments.
- Oversee coastal habitat restoration efforts.
- Stabilize river and stream banks.
- Manage flood control projects.
- Support infrastructure development and protection.
- Assist with additional engineering and surface water management tasks.
Essential Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in the design and development of stream and river restoration projects.
- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a master's degree if the undergraduate degree is not in engineering.
- Current professional engineer (PE) license in Washington or Oregon, or the ability to obtain one through comity.
- Knowledge of Washington State permitting requirements.
Desired Skills and Expertise
- Understanding of West Coast watershed dynamics, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
- Experience in preparing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Proven track record in managing design projects from inception to completion.
- Ability to prepare proposals and develop project scopes and budgets.
- Business development experience.
- Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in civil engineering or environmental science with a focus on aquatic ecosystem restoration.
- Project management experience in floodplain and restoration design.
- Experience with fish passage analysis and design.
- Construction management and inspection experience.
- Proficiency in hydrologic analysis and modeling.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with permit applications in Western states.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
- Experience with field data collection methods.
