Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare team. Your primary responsibility will be to assist providers with examinations, treatment, and special procedures. You will also be responsible for assisting providers and other allied health personnel as directed by established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. Assist physicians with therapeutic and diagnostic patient care functions, which may require sterile technique, enemas, removal or application of dressings (sterile or non-sterile), application of splints, cleansing, irrigating, or prepping a wound or area for procedure. Explain standard self-care procedures as directed by the provider.

Additional Responsibilities:
Provide assistance in the exam room, which includes positioning and draping the patient, assisting with minor surgical procedures by passing instruments in a sterile manner. Assist the provider with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as sigmoidoscopy, cystoscopy, biopsy, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and other procedures under the direct supervision of the provider. Complete necessary arrangements/organization of the treatment room prior to performing the procedure. Sign the consent form, set up the proper equipment for the procedure, and take proper BSI precautions in cleaning and maintaining the instrument(s) used in the procedure. Carry out physician's orders as directed by the provider and initial all diagnostic test forms, lab slips. Screen incoming calls, taking appropriate action, and relay the information to the provider and the member when directed. Chart and initial such action in the OMR. Perform a variety of lab tests using the dip-stix method, such as urine tests, pregnancy tests, and others as directed. Prepare and deliver instruments for Central Service processing. Utilize effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills when interacting with other members of the health team or patients. Display tact and courteous behavior when working with staff and patients. Actively participate in education programs and staff meetings scheduled by the department. Maintain a clean work place. Adhere to all Medical Center policies and procedures. Participate and respond to Code Blue emergencies. Promote, ensure, and improve customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills consistent with the organization's philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.
