Job SummaryThe HazMat Field Driver/Technician will be responsible for the proper transportation of various waste streams at various generator sites. This role will operate Straight Trucks (box trucks) and Tractor Trailers to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties that comply with government regulations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Operate trucks, including roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor trailers, and box trucks.
- Perform LTL (less than load) pickups.
- Maintain driver documents, such as logbooks, quarterly permit books, trip reports, waste manifests, and more.
- Understand and ensure accurate placarding, load securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
- Maintain company equipment and understand and utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software maintenance.
- Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Effectively interact and communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Process hazardous and non-hazardous materials as needed.
- Assist in maintaining good housekeeping at facilities and on grounds.
- May function as a technician on lab pack and field service projects.
- Participate in Site Safety program and required training.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and compressor systems.
- Knowledge of pumps, motors, motor controls, instrumentation, metal fabrication, and other maintenance functions.
- Skilled in using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
- Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
