Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bus Driver to join our team at Education Service Center Region 11 Consortium. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely drive a school bus on designated routes in accordance with time schedules, loading and unloading students at designated locations.
  • Transport students, teachers, and others on school field or activity trips.
  • Inspect assigned bus on a daily basis prior to transporting passengers to ensure it is in good, clean, and safe working order.
  • Clean and refuel the bus as needed.
  • Ensure a communication device is in proper working order before each trip.
  • Report all mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents promptly.
  • Arrange for and ensure completion of routine maintenance of the bus.
  • Maintain order and discipline among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Observe and track route timing, such as total time en-route, time between stops, loading and unloading times, or any other requested information for the purpose of establishing route efficiency.
  • Maintain and submit records and reports as required.
  • Follow procedures to ensure no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed the bus at the end of all bus routes.
Requirements
  • Certification/License: Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License and Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Successful prior experience working as a bus driver, preferably in a school district or transporting children.
Working Conditions

The Bus Driver will work in a standard school bus environment and will be required to travel to and from school district buildings, vehicle service stations, field trip locations, and other destinations.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of all traffic laws, regulations, road signs, and related information, as well as manual dexterity sufficient to operate the bus, conduct pre-trip inspections, and clean the bus.

The Bus Driver will be required to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure and in cases of accidents or other emergencies.

The Bus Driver will also be required to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
