Job Title: Compliance Counsel - Investigation Specialist

thyssenkrupp is an international industrial and technology company with a strong commitment to compliance and integrity. We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Counsel - Investigation Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance team in North America.

Job Summary:

The Compliance Counsel - Investigation Specialist will be responsible for conducting investigations into alleged violations of our company's ethical standards and non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role will also involve contributing to annual audit planning and conducting Compliance audits relating to core Compliance topics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations into alleged violations of our company's ethical standards and non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to annual audit planning and conduct Compliance audits relating to core Compliance topics.
  • Ensure investigations and audits follow approved processes and are lawfully and objectively conducted.
  • Provide supporting evidence and defend findings and recommendations made regarding identified compliance deficiencies and gaps.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and factual investigation and audit reports that enable fair and relevant decisions to be made.
  • Recommend proactive measures to reduce the risk of similar future incidents.
Requirements:
  • JD from an accredited law school and bar license required.
  • 3-5 years' minimum relevant law firm or government experience relating to white collar criminal defense practice or prosecution.
  • Experience with cross-border discovery and GDPR is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, especially as relates to project planning, time management, and note-keeping.
  • Discrete, even-tempered, and cool, with ability to diplomatically manage sophisticated stakeholders in highly sensitive situations.
Working Conditions:

The working environment is primarily remote, but the candidate must be able to travel to the Chicagoland area on a quarterly basis and to various group company locations in the US, Mexico, and Canada as needed for investigation or audit activities.
