Probation Parole Specialist II

As a Probation Parole Specialist II with GeorgiaGov, you will play a critical role in providing social services to assist in the rehabilitation of law offenders in custody or on probation. Your expertise will be essential in formulating rehabilitation plans and treating youth offenders, including conditional release and education and employment stipulations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular interviews with youth offenders to evaluate their progress in achieving goals and maintaining the terms of their probation contracts and rehabilitation plans.
- Recommend remedial action or initiate court action in response to non-compliance with probation or parole terms.
- Administer drug and alcohol tests, including random screens, to verify compliance with substance abuse treatment programs.
- Prepare and maintain case folders for each assigned youth offender.
- Discuss with youth offenders how issues such as drug and alcohol abuse and anger management problems may have contributed to their criminal behavior.
- Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations and testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds and recommend sentences and sentencing conditions.
- Inform youth offenders of the requirements of conditional release, including office visits, restitution payments, or educational and employment stipulations.
- Write reports describing youth offenders' progress.
- Investigate legal issues.
- Write reports or evaluations. Counsel clients or patients with substance abuse issues.
- Arrange for medical, mental health, or substance abuse treatment services according to individual needs or court orders.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting, or four years of direct case management experience working with offenders and their families in a human services delivery setting, or two years of experience at the lower level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (SSP130) or equivalent position.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or relevant experience, including internship and work study, that may be evaluated for an equivalent substitution of work experience.
This position is eligible for a Military Incentive for current/former service members who have served on active duty.
