TEKsystems is in search of a Facilities Operations Engineer to support a prominent global technology organization.
Key Responsibilities1. Interpret engineering schematics and designs, including electrical, control, and mechanical systems.
2. Possess a comprehensive understanding of equipment control systems, specifically HVAC controls and Building Management Systems (BMS). Experience with major control systems such as Metasys (Johnson Controls), ALC, Siemens, or Niagara is essential.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of HVAC machinery, including chillers, boilers, and heat pumps, as well as airflow and Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems.
4. Engage with HVAC technicians effectively, posing insightful questions to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
5. Develop and manage spreadsheets while performing various calculations as required.
Essential Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on and supervisory experience in commercial or industrial facilities management.
• Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and BMS controls.
• Proficient understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety principles.
• Proven ability to organize and prioritize tasks independently while maintaining high efficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
• Familiarity with local and state building codes and safety regulations.
• Proficient in using Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), productivity software, and databases.
• Comfortable with MacOS and iOS platforms.
• Quick to adapt to new processes, tools, and concepts.
Act as a primary contact for campus operations and maintenance activities, including scheduling, project management, and financial oversight.
Provide hands-on technical support and repair for building automation and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems as necessary.
Supervise all facets of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire/Life Safety, Building Automation, and critical environment systems.
Deliver training to new team members or vendor leads to ensure familiarity with internal systems and processes.
Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, including Root Cause Analysis for internal reporting.
Oversee on-site technicians and vendors, driving daily performance and goal achievement.
Conduct regular inspections of work performed by technicians and subcontractors to ensure compliance with company standards.
Manage preventative maintenance schedules and logs, reporting any deficiencies as needed.
Take ownership of the preventative maintenance program and recommend new maintenance procedures as necessary.
Respond to after-hours emergencies as they arise.
Serve as a backup to the Operations & Maintenance manager when required.
