Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Compass Health Network. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our consumers. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position working evening shifts, 40 hours per week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report changes in consumer behavior, attitude, and physical condition.
  • Assist with or participate in re-motivation, rehabilitation, re-socialization, and behavior modification programs.
  • Teach or assist consumers in self-help skills and social behavior based on individual needs.
  • Initiate and participate in group and/or individual activities with consumers.
  • Escort consumers to appointments or as assigned.
  • Participate in specialized programs such as adjunctive therapies and individual interaction with consumers.
  • Perform basic nursing care, including checking vital signs, applying simple dressings, and providing general daily care.
  • Assist physicians or registered professional nurses with diagnostic and treatment procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Assist in the orientation of new consumers.
  • Respond to emergency situations as specified by unit guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment.
  • Administer medications to clients once certified as a DMH Level 1 Medication Aide.
  • Obtain CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Assist clients with transportation as clinically indicated.
  • Train incoming staff on basic job responsibilities.
  • Communicate with clients and/or their families using sign language when needed.
Working Conditions & Exposure Risk

Regular exposure to biohazard and chemical waste materials.

High School/GED required.

At least one year of work experience or self-employment required.

A valid unrestricted driver's license at the time of hire with the ability to obtain and maintain a class E MO driver's license by the end of 60-day introductory period required.
